Business Parks

The new law 3982/2011 concerning the establishment, organization and operation of Business Parks aims at supporting regional development and environmental protection, improving infrastructure, particularly in areas with problems of underdevelopment and environmental degradation, strengthening entrepreneurship and employment and improving the competitiveness of established enterprises.

The Business Park is an integrated set of organic structures, services and infrastructure established and operating to support the activities of secondary and tertiary sectors.

Business parks are distinguished into the following types:

a. Business Park Type A: the space that is set, delimited, planned and organized according to the provisions of Law 3982/2011, to serve as a reception area of activities of all levels of nuisance.

b. Business Park Type B: the space that is set, delimited, planned and organized according to the provisions of Law 3982/2011, to serve as a reception area of activities of medium and low level nuisance.

c. Business Park Type C: the space that is set, delimited, planned and organized according to the provisions of Law 3982/2011, to serve as a reception area of activities of medium level nuisance, subject to the provisions of paragraph 3, article 43, Law N. 3982/2011 as well as the activities that do not come under a specific category of nuisance.

d. Business Park of Special Type: the space that is set, delimited, planned and organized according to the provisions of Law 3982/2011, to serve exclusively as a reception area of enterprises of specific sectors, such as:

aa. Business parks with activities of the same or similar field,

bb. Technopolis, meaning spaces where businesses of new and high technology activities, research and educational activities, enterprises providing services are established and which have a high quality environment,

cc. Business parks of environmental and green entrepreneurship type: the space that is planned, operates and hosts business activities on the production of biofuels and recycling units, according to the sustainable development principles.

e. Rehabilitation Business Park (EPE): it is a business park which is determined, delimited, planned and organized for the environmental rehabilitation of areas where there is informal industrial concentration.

f. Business Park of Intermediate degree of Organisation (EPEBO): is a business park which is not planned, set and organised in areas where existing urban planning or spatial legislation makes provision for the determination of zones outside the plan for the establishment of industrial activities. The definition of intermediate receptors is possible only in areas that have the potential to create business parks of other types and certainly outside the eight areas of regulatory plans of Law 2508/1997 (A 124) and concern activities provided for in the Business Parks Type B.

Procedure for the implementation of a Business Park

Step 1. Establishment of the Business Park Development company (EAEP)

Step 2. Selection and acquisition of land

Step 3. Submit of request to the Ministry of Development

Step 4. Assessment of proposal

Step 5. Issue of the decision approving the Business Park

Step 6. Subsidy for infrastructure works

Step 7. Urban planning

Step 8. Completion of infrastructure works

Step 9. Establishment and operation of enterprises within the Park.
