Filling the gap in the transport of biological materials to healthcare facilities
Biotrans company was established in 2003 with the support of the Action “Support for Female Entrepreneurship”of the Operation Programme “Competitiveness” (ΕPΑΝ) under the 3rd CSF, and is the first company in Greece to have specialised in the rapid and safe transport of biological materials on behalf of hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
The Operational Program “Competitiveness” (ΕPΑΝ) subsidized the business plan with €41,160 during the period of 28/1/2003 to 31/3/2005.
The company has obtained specialized packaging and means of transport which enable the simultaneous transport of different types of biological materials with different storage temperature requirements, ranging from -70 to 37 degrees Celsius.
Today (February 2011), the company has more than 50 specifically trained employees and covers the needs of hospitals in the most part of the country, by ensuring the high quality of blood transfusion and laboratory results, while contributing at the same time to the development of modern laboratories for specific testsand to a reduction in the number of samples being sent to laboratories abroad.
